Ghazali Cinema Town is a vast area in the south of Tehran where many Iranian movies and TV Series have been made. The town was built in 1979 by the famous Iranian director, Ali Hatami. Almost all the cities’ model date back to Reza Shah and Mohammad Reza Shah era. The model of buildings and streets represent real ones available in old Tehran. Other models include Jerusalem, a Middle Eastern city in the west of the Dead Sea, and Kufa, a city in Iraq, which have been used in many serials and movies. Some of these series were about the contemporary political history of Iran. Hezar Dastan is one of these series that shows the secret political power and assassination of political people. The location of some Iranian movies such as Sarbedaran, Kafsh-haye Mirza Norooz (1985), Saint Mary (2000) were also in this town. Ghazali Cinema Town consists of some sections including Toopkhaneh Square, Ministry of Justice, Laleh-Zar Street, Taban Art Cinema, and Grand Hotel, akaskhaneh or photography studio and several shops.
